Locations

A map of locations is attached at the end of this page.

  • Parking for non-DND participants will be available at Building 90, the CFB Winnipeg Gym, located at 680 Whytewold Rd, Winnipeg;
     

  • A potential for over-flow parking is still in development. More information will be provided to team captains if the need materializes;
     

  • Shuttle buses will be available to transport participants between the parking lot and the event location; 
     

  • The event will be held within Hangar 16, the adjacent ramp, and nearby parking lot.

Registration

Team captains are requested to register their team, including a nominal roll.

  • A maximum of 30 teams will be able to participate;
     

  • Each team shall consist of 25 individuals. Additional spectators are welcome but must be registered along with the team in order to gain access to 17 Wing;
     

  • Visitors requiring special arrangements
    (mobility, executives, etc.) should be identified at the time of team registration;
     

  • Team registration is on a first come basis;
     

  • Eight (8) teams spaces are reserved for DND teams. If DND is unable to fill all allotted spaces, the next non-DND team(s) shall be afforded the spot(s);
     

  • The registration fee is $375 per team. Payment arrangements can be made when registering; 
     

  • Registrations can be made through 17wingcommrec@cfmws.com.

Timings

  • Team registration closes 2359 hours 12 September 2024;
     

  • The Plane Pull will be held 20 September 2024;
     

  • The shuttle buses will commence running at 0800 hours. Teams should prepared in the parking lot at that time as it takes substantial time to transport all participants;
     

  • Opening remarks and event kickoff will occur at 1000 hours. A schedule of anticipated pulling times will be provided after registration closes. The times provided will be a guide only as the event will run continuously, only pausing briefly to feed the aircraft crews. Teams must be prepared for their turns to minimize delays;
     

  • If a team is not present or prepared to pull in their assigned turn, no pull will occur, and a time of did not finish (DNF) will be assigned;
     

  • Lunch will be available for purchase through various food trucks starting at 1100 hours; 
     

  • Awards presentations and 50/50 draw will occur at approximately 1430 hours.

Safety and Security

  • 17 Wing is a controlled access location as an active defence establishment and operational airfield. Participants and visitors are required to be registered, and remain within designated areas at all times;
     

  • By entering the defence establishment participants may be photographed, filmed or otherwise recorded. Additionally, by entering the Plane Pull event area such recordings may also appear and be used in any media and for any purpose;
     

  • Participants are requested to arrive and board the bus as a complete team;
     

  • Departure from the event shall be via the shuttle bus only. Walking out will not be permitted for security reasons;
     

  • All team movement in the vicinity of the aircraft shall be under the control of the safety marshals;
     

  • Civilian participants are required to sign the enclosed liability waivers due to the strenuous nature of the event. It is requested all waivers be prepared and signed in advance and team captains submit them at the registration table to minimize delay and confusion;
     

  • Given the industrial nature of the hangar space, all participants and spectators must be at least 16 years of age;
     

  • Service dogs are welcome in all Federal institutions. All other animals are not
    permitted;

     

  • Smoking and vaping is permitted in the designated area only. Cannabis use is not permitted at this event; and
     

  • In the event of inclement weather, other safety, security concerns, or operations requirements, pulling may be cancelled at the discretion of the event organizer.
     

  • Teams will still be invited participate in an open house within the hangar if safe to do so.
